With several years of experience, Ian designs parts and assemblies that can be made, repaired and put to work. Cadian helps small and medium businesses go from a concept or a problem to a clear drawing and a manufacturable solution.
See selected work Contact IanIan studied mechanical engineering technology at Cégep de Thetford Mines. That training is the base for the work he does today: mechanical design, technical drafting, and a practical understanding of how parts fit together and get made.
He has several years of experience as an industrial and mechanical designer-drafter, working on parts, assemblies and repair projects. His work combines CAD modelling and clear drawings with metrology, fabrication and repair, so the drawing matches what the shop can build.
He founded Cadian in Laval to offer that mix directly to small and medium businesses: design and drafting, sheet metal and custom parts, mechanical design and assembly, and fabrication support.
Design and modelling of parts and assemblies.
Technical drawings that are clear and manufacturable, for production, repair or quoting.
Careful measurement of existing parts and equipment, so replacements and repairs fit the original dimensions.
Bent sheet metal and custom components, designed to be made and remade easily.
Design and assembly support for small and medium industrial projects.
Practical fabrication and structural repair work that gets equipment back in service.
Equipment arrived in poor condition. Cadian assessed the repair cost, prepared the plans, arranged and fabricated the pieces needed, and completed structural repairs while respecting the original dimensions. A professional, economical solution that got the equipment back in service quickly.
A vertical panel frame in aluminum extrusion, with adjustable rails and clamp uprights to fit the panel size. The frame pivots on two steel posts, vertical for wiring at a comfortable height and tilting toward horizontal for loading, with adjustable pivot height, on a wide steel base with locking casters. Simple, practical, economical.
A reception table designed and built from scratch for handling incoming merchandise: a welded steel frame with a wood worktop, a full length lower shelf in steel mesh for storage underneath, and casters so it can be moved and placed where the work is. Made for the space and the job, not bought off a shelf.
A rolling tool chest designed for solo trades workers who need an extra pair of hands: complete design with assembly drawings, section views and a full parts list. Simple, robust, and designed to be built.
A clear look at what is needed, what exists already, and what a realistic plan and cost look like before work starts.
Clear, manufacturable drawings that the shop, the supplier and the client can all work from.
Design choices made for fabrication, assembly and repair in the real world, not just on screen.
Practical value, a solution sized to the project, and a clear next step for the client.
